Jane Brice, MD, MPH, will step down from her role as chair of the department of emergency medicine in June of 2027. She has served as chair since 2015. Dr. Brice is also a professor of emergency medicine and holds an adjunct appointment in the department of social medicine.
Her tenure in the department was noted for its focus on providing advanced clinical care, a personalized focus on patients’ needs, as well as its commitment to the education, growth, and nurturing of leading emergency medicine faculty at all stages of their professional careers.
Dr. Brice is a widely published researcher in the field of emergency medicine. She has published two books and more than 10 additional book chapters, and has an extensive history of published research, including manuscripts and abstracts.
Throughout her career, Dr. Brice has had a particular interest in advancing the care of patients in “out-of-hospital” environments, especially as provided by emergency medical services personnel. She is the editor-in-chief of Prehospital Emergency Care.
Dr. Brice is widely recognized for being especially passionate about health equity, particularly as it relates to topics such as health literacy.
She has been repeatedly recognized with a wide range of awards and honors by professional associations as well as academic institutions for excellence in education, clinical care, and as a thought leader within the field of emergency medicine.
