Last year, we hosted a session for faculty and staff related to navigating conflict- so popular, we had to book two sessions. Based on your interest and suggestions, we are now moving into actionable ways to leverage conflict to boost team performance. Identify behavioral styles, perceptions, tools and communication techniques that facilitate collaborative solutions for addressing issues among peers, between managers and direct reports, and with customers. Learn what it means to be assertive and how to differentiate between passive, aggressive, passive aggressive and assertive forms of communication. Both the feedback giver and receiver must learn to listen for understanding to minimize common negative or defensive feelings. During this session, you will learn how to shake off disruptions and stay connected while working remote. Identify when to give positive versus critical feedback and when to praise effort versus skill. With examples, practice situations and judgment-free language that reduces defensiveness, you can learn to deliver effective feedback at work or at home. Participants learn from our world-renowned faculty, outside experts and one another. They gain the practical insight, skills and confidence needed for leadership effectiveness through classroom sessions, a 360 assessment and an intensive practical project addressing a campus need. These conversation clubs have generated some great discussion so far, and it’s a low-key, fantastic way to learn something new during your lunch hour.
