{"id":10071,"date":"2026-05-13T11:10:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T15:10:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/intranet\/?p=10071"},"modified":"2026-05-13T11:10:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T15:10:23","slug":"early-career-faculty-apply-now-to-become-a-sponsored-applicant-for-the-macy-faculty-scholars-program-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/intranet\/2026\/05\/early-career-faculty-apply-now-to-become-a-sponsored-applicant-for-the-macy-faculty-scholars-program-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Early Career Faculty: Apply Now to Become a Sponsored Applicant for the Macy Faculty Scholars Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Macy Faculty Scholars Program seeks to identify early-career faculty who have shown great promise as educators, clinicians, and role models and who are committed to careers in health professions education.<\/p>\n<p>Each Macy Faculty Scholar receives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Up to $100,000 in salary support per year for two years, protecting 50% of their time to pursue a mentored educational project at their sponsoring institution<\/li>\n<li>$25,000 per year for two years to subsidize the cost of professional development activities and expenses related to their educational project<\/li>\n<li>A formal mentor from the foundation\u2019s National Advisory Committee<\/li>\n<li>A peer mentor from the Macy Faculty Scholars alumni network<\/li>\n<li>Tuition costs for one Harvard Macy Institute course<\/li>\n<li>Access to Macy grantees and programs<\/li>\n<li>Attendance at the Macy Faculty Scholars Annual Meeting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By providing scholars with these resources, the program aims to accelerate their careers, turn their teaching practice into scholarship, and help them become impactful leaders locally, nationally and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to be considered for selection as UNC School of Medicine\u2019s one candidate for this program,\u00a0submit the following\u00a0to Liz Steadman (<a href=\"mailto:ebms@med.unc.edu\">ebms@med.unc.edu<\/a>) no later than\u00a0<strong>Thursday, June 4, 2026<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A brief description (no longer than one page) of the educational project you would pursue<\/li>\n<li>Your current curriculum vitae (CV)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/adminliveunc-my.sharepoint.com\/:b:\/g\/personal\/emullane_ad_unc_edu\/IQCjr9dG9UcGTLum4pGADCzAAS-nutpEMvo2EGJ_oxe5zjc?e=6cnGbd\">Chair or Division Chief support letter<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The candidate UNC School of Medicine sponsors for the program will later submit an application for consideration by the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation, which chooses up to five Macy Faculty Scholars per year.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must be United States citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or of its territories.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Macy Faculty Scholars Program seeks to identify early-career faculty who have shown great promise as educators, clinicians, and role models and who are committed to careers in health professions education.
