The School of Medicine Office of Research is committed to investing in the exceptional research being done in the School of Medicine, and below are a few funding opportunities we provide with upcoming deadlines.<\/p>\n

Emerging Challenges in Biomedical Research Awards \u2013 Upcoming Deadline: December 1, 2019<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

These awards provide support for innovative, early stage research relevant to NIH strategic priorities, and for this round of funding, the School of Medicine Office of Research will provide support for innovative basic science research projects to recognize the importance and impact of fundamental research. Furthermore, due to the current vaping epidemic and reports on vaping related illnesses and deaths, basic science research related to vaping will be considered as high-priority<\/em>. Translational Team Science Award \u2013 Upcoming Deadline: January 3, 2020<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Provided jointly by the SOM Office of Research and NC TraCS, translational team science awards (TTSA) intent to capitalize on the \u201cculture of collaboration\u201d at UNC Chapel Hill to foster new synergistically interdisciplinary teams of basic science and clinical investigators. Proposals may include research using cellular and animal model systems; however, the project should clearly translate across basic and clinical disciplines. Due to the current vaping epidemic and reports on vaping related illnesses and deaths, vaping research proposals will be considered as high-priority. <\/em>For more information about these awards, please visit our website here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bridge Funding<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Upcoming Deadline: Early January 2020<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Bridge Funding applications are accepted 3 times during the academic year and funding provides continued support for successful research projects that suffer a lapse in funding. More information about these awards, eligibility, and the application materials can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Boost Funding \u2013 Upcoming Deadline: April 2020<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Boost Funding applications are accepted twice a year and provides funds to increase the chances of funding for an NIH grant (or similar) that has been reviewed favorably but needs additional revisions and preliminary data in order to be funded on resubmission.
