Kimberley Nichols, MD<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Kimberley (\u201cKim\u201d) Nichols, MD, has been named the UNC School of Medicine\u2019s new senior associate dean for medical student education. Nichols will begin her work in the role on Oct. 1 and will report to Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Jennifer Wu, MD, MPH.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition to being an instructor in the Foundation Phase curriculum, Dr. Nichols has provided valuable leadership in a range of roles at UNC, including as associate dean for DEI faculty access and success, individualization phase co-director, clinical academic resources director, division chief of general anesthesiology, and medical director of the procedural care suites and the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit,\u201d Wu said. \u201cShe is a leader in medical education, organizational culture, and equity and inclusion, and she will bring important knowledge and experience to the role. I am excited to work with her as our next senior associate dean for medical education.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nichols joined the faculty at the UNC School of Medicine in August 2011. She holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the UNC School of Medicine. She completed her residency in anesthesiology and a Pain Fellowship at UNC-Chapel Hill.<\/p>\n

In December 2021, Beat Steiner, MD, MPH, announced he was stepping back<\/a> from his work in the senior associate dean for medical student education role.<\/p>\n
