Alice Chuang, MD, MEd<\/a>, has been named the UNC School of Medicine\u2019s new associate dean for student affairs. Chuang will begin her work in the role on Oct. 1. Chuang will report to the newly announced Senior Associate Dean for Medical Student Education Kim Nichols, MD.<\/p>\n

Alice Chuang, MD, MEd<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\u201cDr. Chuang joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the UNC School of Medicine in 2003 and has served in a range of roles including director of undergraduate medical education in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and interim division chief for the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has been a course director in all phases of the curriculum and a past curricular phase co-director,\u201d School of Medicine Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Jennifer Wu, MD, MPH, said. \u201cShe is an excellent leader and an innovative educator, and I look forward to working with her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chuang joined the UNC School of Medicine in 2003. She holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in applied mathematics from Harvard University, she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, and her Master of Education degree from the University of Cincinnati.<\/p>\n

In January 2022, Georgette Dent, MD, announced she would step down<\/a> from her work in the associate dean for student affairs role.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to thank and recognize Dr. Dent for her many years of service to the School of Medicine as our former associate dean for student affairs,\u201d Wu said. \u201cDr. Dent stepped into the role in 1998 and guided the team, as well as our students, through important milestones and great successes. We appreciate her and her help in making this transition as smooth as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
