The program supports the professional development of early-career faculty and encourages peer connections, networking, community-building and self-advocacy.<\/p>\n<p>Early-career faculty, assistant professor rank, whether pre-tenure or fixed-term, are encouraged to sign up for a peer circle. Experienced faculty, either advance associate or full professors, are invited to support the program as circles mentors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unc.az1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_9yoEaPKxtfmwivY\">Faculty can pre-register for the program through Sept.15.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>About Peer Mentoring Circles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cfe.unc.edu\/team-advance\/peer-mentoring-circles\">TEAM ADVANCE Peer Mentoring Circles<\/a> support the professional development of early-career faculty and promote peer connection, networking, building community and developing skills for self-advocacy. Circles are interdisciplinary and consist of 4 &#8211; 7 early-career faculty, fixed term and pre-tenure. Each circle meets monthly throughout the academic year, and discussions are facilitated by two circles mentors who are either associate or full professor, tenured and fixed-term.<\/p>\n<p>The program follows a semi-structured discussion curriculum related to early-career development. Topics include developing mentoring networks,\u00a0 understanding promotion and tenure requirements, communication and negotiation skills, and preparing for departmental annual review. The curriculum is supported with access to online resources and an (optional) early-career professional development workshop series.<\/p>\n<p>Peer mentoring circles offer highly rewarding experiences to both participants and facilitators. Early-career faculty value having a community of peers and spaces for sharing. Circles mentors hone their skills, gain insights from each other, and appreciate supporting their early-career colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>Interested faculty can complete a <a href=\"https:\/\/unc.az1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_9yoEaPKxtfmwivY\">brief pre-registration form<\/a>.
