He recently was named vice president and chief business officer of the UNC School of Medicine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/unccra\/\">Clinical Research Alliance<\/a>, a role he began work in on Sept. 18, and he will step away from his prior role as UNC Physicians CFO.<\/p>\n<p>UNC Health System Chief Financial Officer William Bryant will serve in an interim capacity as CFO of UNC Physicians until a successor is named.<\/p>\n<p>In his role as UNC Physicians CFO, Sledge focused on strategic finance support as well as coordination and oversight of the organization\u2019s financial performance. He led the establishment of important groundwork for several important initiatives including a roadmap for future financial initiatives, consolidated financial reporting frameworks, financial leadership team organizational structure, and initial policies and procedures to align pricing structures for physician contracts across UNC Health.<\/p>\n<p>The School of Medicine\u2019s Clinical Research Alliance launched in June 2023 and leads as a coordinating center for the school\u2019s clinical research enterprise, enabling its world class investigators with new capabilities to lead the design and implementation of multi-site clinical research, while making clinical research more streamlined for researchers, industry partners and trial participants.<\/p>\n<p>Sledge has more than 30 years of financial management and leadership experience and is a graduate of Barton College and a licensed CPA in North Carolina. Prior to coming to UNC-Chapel Hill, he served as CFO of the Duke Clinical Research and Translational Medicine Institutes, leading the finance and many of the operating teams during his tenure there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Michael Sledge currently serves as chief financial officer for the UNC School of Medicine, associate dean for business development and chief financial officer for UNC Faculty Physicians.
