AAUW (American Association of University Women) is the nation\u2019s leading organization for equity in higher education and women\u2019s economic empowerment. Founded in 1881 by women who defied society\u2019s conventions by earning college degrees, AAUW has since worked to increase women\u2019s access, opportunity, and equity in higher education. The American Fellowship, AAUW\u2019s largest funding program, began in 1888, making it one of the world\u2019s oldest and most prestigious fellowship programs exclusively for women. This fellowship supports women scholars who are completing doctoral dissertations, conducting postdoctoral research, or finishing research for publication.<\/span><\/p>\n

Maria White, PhD, is a postdoctoral fellow in the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center where she studies lymphomas that are caused by viral infection. White is interested in identifying new treatment targets for these malignancies, with an emphasis on overcoming drug resistance and improving drug responsiveness. White is mentored by Dr. Blossom Damania, UNC Health’s Chief Scientific Officer and UNC School of Medicine’s Vice Dean for Research.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
