The goal of creating this pantry, and the several others in the <a href=\"https:\/\/dos.unc.edu\/student-support\/basicneeds\/food-security\/\">Carolina Food Pantry Network<\/a>, was to increase access to these resources for all members of the University community. The Pantry Network is centrally coordinated and supported by the Dean of Students (DOS) office. A team of volunteers works with the DOS team to stock the Bondurant Hall location. Our pantry has been well-utilized and greatly appreciated in its 17 months of operation so far!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Where is the Bondurant Pantry? <\/strong>The Bondurant Hall pantry is in room 1072.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Who is served by the pantry?<\/strong> It is open to any member of the Carolina Community (a QR code by the door will allow users with an ONYEN to obtain the lock code).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do I need to identify myself, or log what I\u2019m taking? <\/strong>Pantry users are asked to complete a brief survey (see the flyer posted in the room), which includes collection of your PID. We also expect to soon have a scale, and users will be asked to record the weight of items taken.<br \/>\nThe information collected via this form is used only in the <strong>aggregate<\/strong>; individual users are never identified in any reporting. Having data about how many individuals are served by the pantry network, and the amount of food or other goods distributed, helps support funding requests and bolster partnerships. This in turn helps ensure the ongoing availability of resources to address food insecurity on campus.<\/li>\n<li><strong>What if I need something that isn\u2019t available? <\/strong>Our pantry is currently stocked twice per month, with non-perishable items only. There are multiple food pantries in the network, some of which include perishable foods, baby care items, etc. Additional resources may also be available through the Dean of Students office or community organizations. The <a href=\"https:\/\/dos.unc.edu\/student-support\/basicneeds\/food-security\/\">Food Security webpage<\/a> has a list of resources.<\/li>\n<li><strong>How can I help?<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>If you or someone you know is experiencing food insecurity, please fill out a <a href=\"https:\/\/dos.unc.edu\/student-support\/care-referral-form\/\">care referral form<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>If you would like to help with pantry deliveries &amp; restocking, please <a href=\"mailto:kimberly_capri@med.unc.edu?subject=Bondurant%20Pantry\">contact Kimberly Capri<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>If you would like to donate items, there are now collection bins in the MacNider IT Walk-In location (137 MacNider Hall) and the Jenkins Tech Zone in Roper Hall.
