Kristen is a member of the class of 2023. She grew up in Goldsboro, NC, and is a graduate of the NC School of Science and Mathematics and Duke University. At Duke, she obtained bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Global Health and conducted vaccine research in Honduras. Before matriculating to UNC, a brief stint doing public health work in New York City confirmed her interest in public health and desire to return to North Carolina. In Durham, she moonlighted as a barista and coffee shop manager while applying to medical school. She is currently a central rural Kenan Scholar at UNC School of Medicine. Kristen was introduced to medical humanities after taking a class on HIV history in college and is excited to help create a home for UNC medical students to publish their creative work. She is interested in primary care and when not learning medicine, enjoys gardening, studying textiles, and creating funny tiktoks.
