Breathe in.<\/p>\n

Think of where you came from.<\/p>\n

Think of your mother<\/p>\n

washing floors for rich white women in Chicago<\/p>\n

as her third job,<\/p>\n

because she knew<\/p>\n

that every floor she washed<\/p>\n

would be one less that you would have to.<\/p>\n

Think of how you got here.<\/p>\n

Think of flipping through<\/p>\n

tear soaked flashcards<\/p>\n

on the way to class.<\/p>\n

Telling everyone you loved,<\/p>\n

through coffee stained lies,<\/p>\n

that it was worth it.<\/p>\n

Because you knew,<\/p>\n

one day,<\/p>\n

you would reach ecstasy<\/p>\n

when you were standing where you are<\/p>\n

right now.<\/p>\n

Think of how selfish you were.<\/p>\n

When you were a slave to achievement.<\/p>\n

Ceaselessly clawing your way up<\/p>\n

an avalanche of miserable success.<\/p>\n

So that now you can sacrifice your<\/p>\n

sanity and freedom<\/p>\n

to a stranger.<\/p>\n

Like a drunken fool,<\/p>\n

your choices make sense<\/p>\n

only to you.<\/p>\n

Think of what drove you here.<\/p>\n

Which paths were boarded up<\/p>\n

that led you to spot this<\/p>\n

beautiful<\/p>\n

endless trail<\/p>\n

that you could never<\/p>\n

focus your eyes away from.<\/p>\n

Scraping through thorns and<\/p>\n

drowning in rapids<\/p>\n

trying to cross another river.<\/p>\n

Did you ever escape,<\/p>\n

or is tumbling through<\/p>\n

coarse time-shaped sediment<\/p>\n

what you have always been after?<\/p>\n

Does the water flooding your lungs<\/p>\n

give you life?<\/p>\n

Think of how happy you once were.<\/p>\n

When energy was transformed<\/p>\n

just for you,<\/p>\n

and entered your soul<\/p>\n

through your ear drums.<\/p>\n

Oscillating waves of bliss,<\/p>\n

sharing with you<\/p>\n

one word<\/p>\n

that would reinforce your dreams<\/p>\n

and begin to sculpt<\/p>\n

within yourself<\/p>\n

the David of your future.<\/p>\n

Congratulations.<\/p>\n

Breathe out.<\/p>\n

Read her chart, knock on the door, and walk in.<\/p>\n

And don\u2019t forget to fucking smile,<\/p>\n
