I listened to mellowing sounds,<\/p>\n

While sitting in my overgrown backyard,<\/p>\n

In that uncanny moment when somber thoughts<\/p>\n

Wake the past from its shadowy grave.<\/p>\n

With graceful balance indeed<\/p>\n

Has Nature sashayed around me;<\/p>\n

And washed my heavy heart<\/p>\n

with her pure waters.<\/p>\n

Through the doorway of the tall grass,<\/p>\n

A Squirrel emerges then disappears again,<\/p>\n

And the calm wind gently stroked<\/p>\n

the tree branches with care.<\/p>\n

The birds hopped and sang,<\/p>\n

Their songs so soulful and sweet;<\/p>\n

A Robin flew towards me and stopped,<\/p>\n

Regarding me with a knowing curiosity.<\/p>\n

The wind suddenly started howling,<\/p>\n

And the branches cringed with fear,<\/p>\n

Then an overwhelming silence walked in<\/p>\n

with Melancholy on its arm.<\/p>\n

A brooding sadness soon gripped my heart,<\/p>\n

Pounded, tugged and broke it into submission.<\/p>\n

Leaving an aching hollow,<\/p>\n

That even She- O! mighty Nature can\u2019t fill.<\/p>\n

But rather She mocked me even as She took<\/p>\n

my breath away,<\/p>\n
