Every year UNC holds an awards ceremony to recognize Information Technology employees who have done outstanding work in their departments. We are pleased to announce that this year, many of our very own from School of Medicine IT were nominated for awards. Additionally, Grant Harrison, Technology Support Analyst, won an IT Award. “Grant is one of the very best IT specialists that I have ever worked with at UNC. He is always willing to help, is a great listener to my concerns, is efficient in his work and so knowledgeable in all that he does. He also goes beyond the call of duty, coming in early or staying late to work on computer problems and is so helpful in trouble-shooting problems. One such example was last fall when I was getting ready to leave for a work-related trip. In a very short time frame, he helped me remove the PGP encryption, added my data to the SOM server, helped migrate my data over and provided a loaner laptop for me to used on my trip as a backup. I was so worried about this, but Grant came up with a great plan that worked. He is a stellar IT specialist and so deserving of this award!”
