Near the end of 2020, School of Medicine IT took steps to block the macOS 11 (Big Sur) upgrade on SOM IT-managed macOS devices upon learning of issues with the upgrade that could result in upgraded School of Medicine machines being left inoperable. Those issues have now been resolved.

As a result of this, the block has been removed and devices can now be upgraded safely. If you do choose to upgrade your macOS device, it is extremely important that you upgrade the AnyConnect VPN client prior to proceeding with the Big Sur upgrade.
