(Note: Most printers for the Department of Medicine are located on\u00a0<strong>\\\\somprint3<\/strong>, but if you do not see the printer you are trying to connect to, enter\u00a0<strong>\\\\somprint2<\/strong>instead.)<br \/>\nWindows 7 address bar:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"somoverlay image-inline link-overlay\" title=\"Address Bar.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/files\/2018\/12\/Address-Bar.png\" alt=\"Address Bar\" \/>Windows 10 address bar:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"image-inline\" title=\"network_printer_somprint3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/files\/2018\/12\/network_printer_somprint3.png\" alt=\"network_printer_somprint3\" width=\"599\" height=\"309\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Look through the list of printers for the appropriate one(s) for your division and location. Dept. of Medicine printers all start with\u00a0<strong>DOM_<em>division<\/em>_<\/strong>\u00a0and follow a standard naming convention:\u00a0<strong>DOM_<em>division<\/em>_<em>room#bldg<\/em>_<em>printermodel<\/em><\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>In the picture below, the selected printer is a Nephrology printer, located in room 6006 of Burnett-Womack.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"somoverlay image-inline link-overlay\" title=\"6006BW.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/files\/2018\/12\/6006BW.png\" alt=\"somprint2 window\" \/><\/li>\n<li>When you find the printer you want to connect to, right-click on it and choose\u00a0<strong>Connect<\/strong>.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image-inline\" title=\"connect.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/files\/2019\/01\/connect.png\" alt=\"Connecting to a printer\" \/><\/li>\n<li>The following window will pop up:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"somoverlay image-inline link-overlay\" title=\"connecting.png\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/medicine\/files\/2019\/01\/connecting.png\" alt=\"connecting\" \/><br \/>\nWait until the progress window disappears, then look in your Printers and Faxes window- you should now see a connection to the printer. Repeat as needed to connect to any printers you need access to.
