These network drives are likely to <span style=\"color: #888888;\">appear automatically.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.43em;\">If you do not see the drives (but you know your machine is joined to the campus domain), please submit a help request as outlined at the bottom of this document. Please include your Onyen and the name of your computer as shown under Start &gt; Control Panel &gt; System or Start &gt; Control Panel &gt; System and Security &gt; System.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.43em;\">If your Windows machine is a personal machine not joined to the campus domain, follow the steps below to map the drives. <strong>You will need to know the path to the drive that you wish to connect to- this can be found by looking at another computer that has the drive mapping in question.<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Manually Mapping a Network Drive<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the Map Network Drive window using the instructions for your version of Windows:\n<ul>\n<li>Windows 10:\u00a0Open <strong>File Explorer<\/strong>, then click on\u00a0<strong>This PC<\/strong>. Use\u00a0<strong>Ctrl-F1<\/strong> to expand the ribbon at the top of the window. Click the <strong>Map Network Drive<\/strong> icon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>In the Map Network Drive window, set Drive to <strong>J:<\/strong> and enter the appropriate network drive path in the format <strong>\\\\ad.unc.edu\\med\\&#8230;<\/strong> in the Folder field, as shown in the picture below. Click <strong>Finish<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<span style=\"line-height: 1.43em;\"> <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image-inline\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/477\/2019\/02\/map-network-drive-windows.png\" alt=\"Picture of Windows Map Network Drive settings\"\/><\/span><\/li>\n<li>If prompted for a username and password, enter your Onyen in the following format, then enter your password:<br \/>\nUsername: <strong>AD\\<em>youronyen<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Repeat as needed to map any desired additional network drive locations.<strong><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Further information<\/h2>\n<p>The J: drive or &#8220;Groups&#8221; location contains departmental group shared data. Here you should see folders that are restricted to small groups within a given department or division. This allows you to collaborate and share data with others.<\/p>\n<p>The S: drive or \u201cShared\u201d location is accessible to all members of the department or division. A new window appears.
