Students can save thousands of dollars with an accelerated program. In addition, once Community Health Training Program scholars enter the practice phase of the program after residency in a rural or underserved community, they can be matched up with loan repayment programs.<\/p>\n<p>For those committed to North Carolina, rural practice, and primary care, there are opportunities to apply for dedicated scholarships, further reducing the cost of medical school tuition. Scholars also get the opportunity to work closely with the program director, faculty from various primary care specialties, and the coordinator for more individualized attention and assistance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n        \n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"panel panel-default oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n\n    <div id=\"panel-heading-details-0-2\" class=\"panel-heading oscitas-bootstrap-container\" role=\"tab\">\n\n        <h3 class=\"panel-title oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n\n            <button class=\"accordion-toggle oscitas-bootstrap-container collapsed\" \n                id = \"button-details-0-2\"\n                data-toggle=\"collapse\"\n                data-parent=\"#unc-accordion-0\"    \n                aria-controls=\"#details-0-2\"  \n                aria-expanded=\"false\" \n                href=\"#details-0-2\">\n                Early and Longitudinal Clinical Experience            <\/button>\n\n        <\/h3>\n\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div id=\"details-0-2\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse  oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n\n        <div class=\"panel-body oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n<p>All Community Health Training Program scholars start spending regular time in clinics during the spring of their MS1 year and will continue this throughout the Foundation Phase. Additionally, during the summer, they will spend around 8 weeks in an in-depth community-based clinical experience. These clinical experiences during the Foundation Phase will be in various specialties, allowing students to explore their future specialty of choice, regardless of their degree of commitment to the specialty.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n        \n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"panel panel-default oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n\n    <div id=\"panel-heading-details-0-3\" class=\"panel-heading oscitas-bootstrap-container\" role=\"tab\">\n\n        <h3 class=\"panel-title oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n\n            <button class=\"accordion-toggle oscitas-bootstrap-container collapsed\" \n                id = \"button-details-0-3\"\n                data-toggle=\"collapse\"\n                data-parent=\"#unc-accordion-0\"    \n                aria-controls=\"#details-0-3\"  \n                aria-expanded=\"false\" \n                href=\"#details-0-3\">\n                Dedicated Community-Based Curriculum            <\/button>\n\n        <\/h3>\n\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div id=\"details-0-3\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse  oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n\n        <div class=\"panel-body oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n<p>All Community Health Training Program scholars will receive teaching throughout their Foundation Phase, which will prepare them for early clinical exposure and align with their current Foundation Phase teaching topics. Additionally, during their Application Phase and the summer between MS1 and MS2 years, they will receive specialized didactics related to community medicine, leadership training, and specialized teachings regarding clinical tools, such as point-of-care ultrasound, in rural clinical settings.
