During his fellowship, Dr. Paulus focused on enhancing his skills in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). He dedicated considerable time to practicing ultrasound techniques at both Chatham Hospital and Hillsborough Hospital. He also took the initiative to mentor learners at these hospitals, teaching them the fundamentals of POCUS. Furthermore, he completed various online trainings and attended hands-on workshops. Additionally, I serve as an attending on our Family Centered Perinatal Care service at UNC. As part of my fellowship, I helped to establish a dating US clinic at our FQHC in order to reduce financial and access barriers to this fundamental service. I also use my fellowship to spend additional time on the UNC maternity care service as a co-attending. This allowed me to enhance my clinical skills and provided transition time to gain comfort with logistical considerations within a new hospital setting as I transitioned to attending independently. I completed Family Medicine Residency followed by a Family Medicine Procedures Fellowship at UNC. After fellowship and joining PHS, I started an additional weekly procedures clinic at our rural residency sites in Prospect Hill and Siler City. I help to train the UNC Family Medicine residents and procedure fellows during their rotations at these sites. The UNC Rural Health Fellowship provided me with time to expand our PHS Procedures clinic offerings; I have since added an additional weekly procedures clinic at our Carrboro location given the demand for procedural care for our un-\\\/underinsured patients. I perform a variety of skin\\\/nail procedures (such as biopsies and excisions), gynecologic\\\/contraceptive procedures, musculoskeletal injections and ultrasound evaluation. I worked to help standardize procedure set-up and instruments across the many PHS clinic sites.
