TEC 2.0 engages students in the art and science of medicine through integrated basic science and clinical skills content and longitudinal patient care experiences. Medical students take a variety of courses including Patient Centered Care, Social and Health Systems, and Medical Science. Foundation Phase students learn via multiple modes, including small-group learning, seminars, workshops, clinical week experiences, and lecture.<\/p>\n<a class=\"btn btn-primary btn-lg  oscitas-bootstrap-container\" aria-label=\"Learn More About the Foundation Phase\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/md\/curriculum\/curriculum-overview\/foundation-phase\/\">More About the Foundation Phase<\/a>\n<h2>Application Phase<\/h2>\n<p>During the Application Phase, students spend 12 months completing core clinical clerkships in family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, psychiatry, and surgery. Students can complete the Application Phase at one of six locations: Asheville, Central (Chapel Hill and surrounding areas), Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh, and Wilmington. All campuses and sites have the same course objectives and assessments, but each is characterized by a unique curricular structure and opportunities afforded by diverse geographical locations. During these 14 months, students will develop individual core clinical interests and skills with a focus on future career plans. As such, the UNC School of Medicine graduation competencies were developed to guide the design and implementation of the medical student curriculum.
