Hayley Applegate was born and raised in Nebraska and moved around several times after high school before putting down roots in North Carolina.  After getting her BA in Political Science from Texas A&M University, Hayley spent several months traveling through Europe.  Prior to joining UNC School of Medicine, she worked at the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) in Washington, DC and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, as well as in the private sector.

In her role as the program’s coordinator Hayley coordinates the scheduling of students’ clinic days, manages the program’s website and Sakai site, coordinates didactics, and is a general one-stop resource for information and answering questions.  She loves being the coordinator for the FIRST Program because she gets to work with phenomenal students and faculty and she firmly believes in the program’s mission.
