Each year, 14 students per phase are selected by their classmates to serve as Peer Support Advocates based on their records of service, and good academic standing. Advocates serve a one-year term and are integrated into their Advisory College, contributing to both the academic and social fabric of their communities.  <\/p>\n<p>These student advocates work closely with the College Advisors, Chief Advocates, the School of Medicine Wellness Coaches, and the Office of Student Affairs; equipping them with the tools and guidance necessary to help their peers navigate common academic, administrative, and personal challenges.<\/p>\n<h2>Roles and Responsibilities of Peer Support Advocates<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in Advisory College events, such as lunchtime sessions, to foster open dialogue and community-building.<\/li>\n<li>Organize social activities that encourage balance and connection outside of the rigorous demands of medical school.<\/li>\n<li>Host informal support sessions to provide peers with a safe space to share their experiences and challenges.<\/li>\n<li>Offer confidential support, inviting students to reach out with inquiries they may not feel comfortable sharing elsewhere.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate access to resources, guiding students toward appropriate on-campus and community services when additional support is needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What to Expect from a Peer Support Advocate<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Respectful and validating conversations: You will be heard and supported with empathy and respect.<\/li>\n<li>Social and emotional support: Advocates are here to help you feel connected and provide encouragement through difficult moments.<\/li>\n<li>Linkages to resources: If you need further help, they can guide you to relevant campus or community services.<\/li>\n<li>Privacy: Your conversations will be treated confidentially, ensuring a safe environment to share concerns.<\/li>\n<li>Meeting you where you are: Advocates understand that everyone\u2019s journey is unique and will support you at your own pace.<\/li>\n<li>Prompt responses: Expect a reply within one business day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What Peer Support Advocates Are Not<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Professional counseling: While advocates offer emotional support, they are not licensed counselors.<\/li>\n<li>Medical advice: They are not qualified to provide medical consultations or diagnoses.<\/li>\n<li>Emergency help: In urgent situations, students should seek emergency assistance
