ranking them #1.\u00a0 You are not obligated to do so, and programs should not penalize an applicant who does not indicate they will rank them highly.\u00a0 Programs are instructed that they cannot require such a \u201cletter of intent\u201d and the Match works best if programs simply rank applicants from strongest to weakest.\u00a0 However, some programs do continue to rank interested applicants more favorably.<br \/>\n<\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n        \n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"panel panel-default oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n\n    <div id=\"panel-heading-details-0-15\" assurances, verbal commitments, etc after an interview.\u00a0 If a program is making contact that feels out of bounds, contact your advisor for input on how to handle this situation.<br surgery, radiology, hematology\/oncology, infectious disease, and others.<\/li>\n<li>At least one, but ideally two, strong letters of recommendation from a pathologist that reflects enthusiasm for learning, detail-oriented work, strong analytical skills, and effective communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Clearly enunciated reason for choosing Pathology as a career.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated interest in Pathology.<\/li>\n<li>Passed USMLE Step 1 on the first try.<\/li>\n<li>USMLE Step 2 CK &gt; 230<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please refer to the College of American Pathologists website (<a
