Medical students in their first and second year may apply for the Graduate Student Lottery to receive a permit for the S11 lot. Upon award of a parking permit, students must complete the application process at\u00a0move.unc.edu\/account\/<\/a>. Failure to submit all information or pay for the permit in a timely manner may result in a revocation of the permit. Students are reminded that the Foundation Phase academic calendar extends beyond the beginning and end of the university academic calendar and should be aware of the start and end dates of the permit they are granted; extensions may be available directly through the UNC Parking office.<\/p>\n

Application Phase and Individualization Phase students assigned to a rotation at UNC Main Hospital may request a parking permit based on the dates of their rotation. This process is coordinated through Student Affairs; students will receive an email before the start of each course requesting the relevant information needed for a permit. Student Affairs communicates this information directly to UNC Parking, and students will be notified by the start of their rotation of the parking deck to which they have been assigned. Students must pay for their permits by the start of the rotation. Student Affairs cannot process late requests for parking.<\/p>\n

Students in Application Phase must have access to a car in order to get to clinical sites in a timely manner.<\/p>\n

Chapel Hill Transit<\/h2>\n

<\/a>This is the main bus service on campus and serves many communities in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Many people are able to ride a bus from their homes into Chapel Hill. This bus system is free for everyone.<\/p>\n

Point-to-Point Shuttle<\/h2>\n

<\/a>Point-to-Point (P2P) is a University-operated service providing on-demand and fixed route options to assist in getting around campus both after dark and during normal working hours. P2P services are available only to UNC-Chapel Hill students and employees.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Park and ride lots are a popular choice for those not close to a bus line. Park and ride permits are required, but the shuttle busses to and from campus are free.<\/p>\n

<\/a>The Commuter Alternative Program (CAP) rewards UNC employees and students who choose to take the bus, rideshare, bike or walk to campus.<\/p>\n

<\/a>UNC-Chapel Hill is recognized nationally as a silver-level Bicycle-Friendly University. Eligible employees and students may join CAP to receive rewards for cycling! Also, bus lines have bike racks if you want to ride the bus into campus then have your bike to travel around once there.<\/p>\n

<\/a>All campus parking permits for Medical Students are awarded via a lottery system. Lottery registration is usually in early July, and assignments are sent via email within 10 days of closing. Registration for the lottery is restricted, and very few permits are awarded.<\/p>\n

GoTriangle operates regional bus and provides a range of commuter resources for the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area including Apex, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Garner, Hillsborough, RDU International Airport, Raleigh, The Research Triangle Park, and Wake Forest.<\/p>\n

Other, less used,\u00a0regional transit partners<\/a>\u00a0serve the Chapel Hill Area include: PART Express, Hillsborough Express, and the Orange County Public Transportation.<\/p>\n

Raleigh-Durham (RDU) International Airport<\/a>\u00a0is the closest airport to UNC. During Thanksgiving, Fall, and Spring Breaks, UNC students can ride the free\u00a0Point-to-Point (P2P)<\/a>\u00a0shuttle service.<\/p>\n
