Dr. Elliott Browning graduated from Auburn University and the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and says he plans to pursue ophthalmology after a preliminary year in internal medicine. He chose UNC because of its welcoming environment, where people are incredibly humble and really strive to do their best each day.

Dr. Cynthia Gay came to UNC for a fellowship in Infectious Diseases, drawn to the results-driven research of UNC faculty and their open-minded approach. She says both the big and small impact on patients is easily the best part of her work. Sometimes this means being the person who listens. Sometimes it’s about making a patient laugh, while providing a safe place to talk about HIV.
