The UNC Department of Medicine is pleased to acknowledge that the UNC Internal Medicine Residency Program has been recognized for achieving a 100% board pass rate, and a 99% five-year board pass rate, higher than the national average of 88-91%.
Passing ABIM boards demonstrate that physicians have met rigorous standards and have the clinical judgment, skills and attitudes essential for the delivery of excellent patient care. All residents are required to finish training on or before August 31 in order to take the ABIM Internal Medicine Certification Examination, which is administered earlier in August of the same year.
The American Board of Internal Medicine annually reports for each internal medicine residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education the cumulative pass rates across the three most recent certification examinations in internal medicine. More information can be found here.
Congratulations to internal medicine residents past and present!
