Matthew Cavender, MD, MPH, associate professor in the division of cardiology and interventional cardiologist, was interviewed by Forbes magazine, discussing the use of blood thinners for patients with clots related to COVID-19.

“COVID patients are clearly at higher risk of thrombotic events,” said Cavender, in the article.

“Blood thinners certainly play a role in clot prevention…there’s no question that DVT prophylaxis is needed – maybe even at slightly higher doses – and is beneficial in critical illness.”
