Clinical and Research Interests

Dr. Westreich is a clinician and educator who also devotes time to quality improvement and patient safety.

Clinical: She sees pediatric nephrology patients in both the hospital setting and the outpatient clinic. She is medical director of pediatric kidney transplant at UNC.

Education: She teaches medical students and residents through noon lectures and as they rotate through pediatric nephrology, and is the program director for the pediatric nephrology fellowship training program. She is responsible for the quality improvement curriculum for the adult and pediatric nephrology fellowship programs.

Quality improvement and patient safety: Dr. Westreich has several ongoing quality improvement projects of varying size and scope, and serves on the patient safety committee for NC Children’s Hospital, as well as represents Nephrology in the Internal Medicine patients safety structure.
