Khalid grew up in Vernon Hills, IL, and studied chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Chicago. After graduation, he received a Fulbright grant to teach English at a university in Osmaniye, Turkey. When he returned to the US a year later, he moved to Detroit, MI, where he taught high school math for two years through Teach for America. He then started medical school at the University of Wisconsin in Madison where he developed an interest in internal medicine. In his free time, he enjoys watching shows and movies on Netflix, and spending time with family and friends. But most importantly, he is very excited to be in Chapel Hill to continue his medical training. He is also interested in specializing in infectious diseases.
