McGinty grew up in Columbus, MS, living on the Tombigbee River. As a child, he was often seen attempting to play several musical instruments simultaneously, making some progress as a classical violinist with his teachers’ superhuman degree of patience. In his spare time, McGinty honed his skills as a survivalist and good citizen in Boy Scouts, critiqued the writing styles of high-school science textbook authors, annoyed his parents with an overzealous application of the scientific method, and succeeded in doubling the grocery bill for a family of six. Luckily, his personality found a home in the Mississippi School for Math and Science, the Birmingham-Southern College Chemistry Department, the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, and his patient wife, Kelsey. He is excited for a new experience at UNC Internal Medicine!
