Undergraduate: University of Georgia
Medical School: UNC School of Medicine
Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Melissa attended the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. After graduation, she moved to Charlotte, NC, and became a Teach for America high school science teacher, which ultimately inspired her passion for adolescent health. During medical school, she devoted a majority of her time to founding and running the PATCH Program (Propelling Adolescents Towards Careers in Healthcare), a pipeline for underserved and minority students hoping to enter the healthcare field. In her free time, she enjoys anything outside (especially playing sand volleyball, running, and road biking), and attempting do-it-yourself projects.
