Camden, Delaware

Patrick, originally from Camden, Delaware, attended East Carolina studying Exercise Physiology and graduating Summa Cum Laude with Honors. After teaching 8th grade science for three years with Teach for America, Patrick worked for a year as a CNA before attending UNC School of Medicine, where he served as the Co-President of the Whitehead Medical Society, the SOM’s student government. Drawing from his year gaining clinical experience before medical school, he co-founded MedServe, a non-profit corporation that places recent pre-med graduates into underserved areas within primary care practices. A member of AOA and the Gold Humanism Honor Society, he also earned his MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business.

Patrick will be serving on the Housestaff Council and Children’s Hospital Improvement Council for the 2018-2019 year, as well as developing a track for residents interested in leadership and management.

Although a non-native North Carolinian, Patrick is always happy to recommend things to do across the state, from small coastal town weekend trips to Chef & the Farmer in Kinston to eastern NC barbecue. Patrick, his wife, Sarah, and two boys, Henry and Paul Hampton, anxiously await the arrival of the fifth member of their family in October 2018!
