Rachel grew up in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia and went to Harvard for college, where she majored in statistics. In between college and medical school, Rachel worked for two years at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She finally grew tired of winter in the northeast and left Boston for medical school at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. In her free time she enjoys going on hikes with her dog, Oscar, and cooking meals with her husband, Peter.
