Roma grew up in Northern California with her grandparents, parents, and three brothers. She is a first generation college student who graduated from the University of California Berkeley, with a double major in public health, and Southeast Asian Studies. Spending a semester abroad in India and later working in county government in tobacco control reshaped her understanding of how physicians can impact community health. As a medical student at Georgetown University, Roma conducted research in age-related macular degeneration at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. She enjoys reading nonfiction (especially biographies), exploring local coffee shops, traveling, and spending time outdoors with her inspirational nephew Ashaan.
