Geriatrics Fellow 2017-2018

I graduated from University of Michigan Medical School in 1996, and stayed in Ann Arbor for residency in Family Medicine. I’ve been a proud Tarheel for nearly 18 years now, and I’m delighted to be a geriatric medicine fellow at UNC-Chapel Hill.  I returned to school in 2012 to pursue an MPH in Health Behavior from the UNC-Gillings School of Global Public Health. I recently completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at UNC-Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, conducting mentored qualitative health services and quality of life research in childhood cancer survivorship.

That my current clinical training is in geriatrics and my research focus has been in childhood cancer survivorship makes sense to me, as a family physician. I’m interested in models of care that link primary care, communities, and cancer centers to address survivors’ chronic disease prevention and management, and psychosocial needs. In both research and clinical practice, my basic philosophy is that patient narrative holds many answers, and allows one to ask the right questions.
