Undergraduate: Louisville

Tanner is originally from Kentucky and attended the University of Louisville for college where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Health and Human Performance. After college, he worked as a scribe and scribe trainer as well as a substitute teacher for middle school students before coming to the University of Kentucky for medical school.  He completed his MBA through the University of Kentucky College of Business in 2020, and this has led to an interest for future work that involves healthcare administration and quality improvement in addition to clinical care of patients. His MBA work focused on investigating peri-operative supply chain processes and led to a recommendation for a high-impact and low-cost series of improvements. Tanner has also participated in research focused on identifying root causes for patient colonoscopy prep education failures and orthopedic focused projects.  In recognition of his clinical care and compassion, Tanner was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. After completion of his preliminary year in medicine, Tanner will be returning to Kentucky where he will begin his Radiology residency.  Tanner will be joining his girlfriend in Chapel Hill who is currently a first-year resident in Anesthesiology at UNC.  In his free time, Tanner enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, hiking, snowboarding, and scuba diving as well as audiobooks and building computers and playing computer games.
