Patient Care Overview<\/h2>\n

The UNC Division of Endocrinology is dedicated to personalized evaluation and treatment of diabetes and disorders of the thyroid, parathyroid, bone, pituitary, adrenal, and reproductive glands. Each year, we staff more than 18,000 patient visits in our clinic at the UNC Eastowne Medical Office Building.<\/p>\n

Our faculty are nationally recognized and published in several areas including diabetes and bone disease. Experts lead focused clinics in pituitary medicine, osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease, adrenal and gonadal disorders, and thyroid nodules. Our thyroid nodule clinic offers new patient evaluation and ultrasound-guided thyroid nodule biopsy the same day if needed.<\/p>\n

Our collaborative care model for people with diabetes includes comprehensive diabetes education, continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and insulin pump management, an on-site clinical pharmacist, and the opportunity to participate in research via our active clinical trials unit.<\/p>\n

We partner closely with Departments of Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Radiology, and the Division of Oncology, in the treatment of endocrine tumors. Our endocrinologists conduct pre-operative assessment, ensure timely referral, and collaborate in post-procedural care. We discuss complex cases in our monthly multi-disciplinary endocrine tumor and pituitary conferences.<\/p>\n

We consider it a great privilege to serve as a leading academic endocrine practice for the people of North Carolina and for those around the country who seek our expertise.<\/span><\/p>\n

We see patients in the UNC Endocrinology Clinic on the third floor of the UNC Eastowne Medical Office Building<\/a>. We also offer telemedicine visits for select follow up patients.<\/div>

Clinical Trials<\/h2>\n

We have a large clinical trials program housed on the sixth floor of the UNC Eastowne Medical Office Building. Volunteers have the opportunity to receive cutting-edge treatments for diabetes and obesity, and to help advance understanding of these diseases.
