Dr. Hwang is chief of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her philosophy of care is that the partnership formed between a patient and his or her doctor is the fulcrum upon which everything in medicine revolves around. She believes that the highest quality care comes with engaging patients to become active partners in managing their disease. Furthermore, as a physician-scientist, she believes that actively listening to her patients is the best way to understand what are the most meaningful scientific questions to pursue. Dr. Hwang\u2019s academic interests are at the intersection of metabolism and neuroscience.
