DESCRIPTION:This conference will be presented as a webinar. \nMountain Area AHEC and the UNC Division of Cardiology present the 19th Annual North Carolina Cardiovascular Update on December 4\, 2020. \nDownload conference agenda. \nRegister online at MAHEC \nConference Co-Directors\nGeorge A.(Rick) Stouffer\, MD\nErnest and Hazel Craige Distinguished Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine\nChief\, Division of Cardiology\nCo-Director\, McAllister Heart Institute \nMatthew Cavender\, MD\, MPH\, FACC\nAssistant Professor of Medicine\, Division of Cardiology\nCo-Director of Cardiology Clinical Trials \nCourse Description\nThe 2020 North Carolina Cardiovascular Update is a virtual CME event featuring a half day of lectures and discussions on optimal treatment of cardiovascular diseases\, including cutting-edge technologies and drug therapies\, as well as a look back on COVID’s impact on treatment and care. \nTarget Audience\nCardiologists\, cardiac surgeons\, internists\, family practice and primary care physicians\, ER physicians\, nurses\, NP’s\, PA’s\, and other health professionals involved in the treatment of\ncardiovascular disease. \nEducational Objectives\n\nIdentify and integrate various state-of-the-art treatments for cardiovascular disease\, including percutaneous and surgical therapies\, by primary care physicians and cardiologists\nReview state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques and imaging options for assessing patients with cardiovascular disease\nReview important clinical trials in cardiology that have been completed within the past year\, including but not limited to\, cholesterol-lowering drugs\, and apply information learned to your daily practice\nUpdate on the cardiovascular complications of COVID\n\nAccreditation Statement\nThis activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) through the joint providership of Mountain Area Health Education Center and UNC Center for Heart & Vascular Care. DESCRIPTION:About Book Club\nThe LGBTQ Center Book Club is a twice-monthly meeting of lit nerds and casual readers who love to discuss books\, fanfic\, and other readings with LGBTQIA+ themes. . We meet on a pattern of discussing things we love/late to read on the 1st Friday and meeting to discuss the group’s chosen works on the 3rd Friday. We stay in touch and discuss readings using a dedicated GroupMe chat in between meetings. \n\nFall 2020 Schedule\n1st and 3rd Friday starting 8/21 from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm starting with an interest meeting on 8/21/2020. \nSeptember 4th: Reading recs meeting.
