DESCRIPTION:About Book Club\nThe LGBTQ Center Book Club is a twice-monthly meeting of lit nerds and casual readers who love to discuss books\, fanfic\, and other readings with LGBTQIA+ themes. . We meet on a pattern of discussing things we love/late to read on the 1st Friday and meeting to discuss the group’s chosen works on the 3rd Friday. We stay in touch and discuss readings using a dedicated GroupMe chat in between meetings. \n\nFall 2020 Schedule\n1st and 3rd Friday starting 8/21 from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm starting with an interest meeting on 8/21/2020. \nSeptember 4th: Reading recs meeting. DESCRIPTION:Trans Talk Tuesday\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nZoom – Contact Facilitator for Link\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn LGBTIQ spaces do you feel like the T is left out?\nWould you like to connect with folks around topics of gender identity and gender expression?\nAre you questioning your gender identity and hoping to talk to other questioning folks?\nWould you like to share your knowledge and expertise in regards to navigating systems that don’t often recognize diversity within gender?\n\nJoin the LGBTQ Center’s peer support/discussion group for campus and community members that identify as transgender\, genderqueer\, or gender-questioning. This space is meant to provide community and connection amongst folks on the basis of gender identity. All students\, staff\, faculty\, community members with these identities are welcome. \nNote to Allies\nWe have been asked if allies are welcome. As this space is not meant to be an educational space where people have to explain their identities\, we ask that people who do not identify as part of the transgender community (i.e.\, cisgender allies) not attend. Instead\, please consider taking advantage of our educational programs and/or resources for supportive families or friends. \nAccommodations for Social Distancing\nTrans Talk Tuesday will be moving online for now. SUMMARY:Medicine Grand Rounds: Dr. Jennifer McEntee & Dr. Frances Collichio presents "Faculty Development of Teachers"
DESCRIPTION:Frances Collichio is the Associate Program Director for the Hematology Oncology Fellowship program at UNC.  Thirty-one years in the field with a variety of positions\, including in private practice at the beginning of her career\, led her to a depth of appreciation for the work and dedication that is needed for excellence in patient care and teaching.  Dr. Collichio kept as her main mission\, education. In graduate medical education she was part of the inception of the in-training examination of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) for fellows. She was part of the Milestones committees of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) including the small group that wrote the Hematology Oncology Milestones.  She served on the Council for the Alliance Subspecialty Professors where she advanced many positions\, including family leave. Besides her work as an educator\, Dr. Collichio is a physician who specializes in complex skin oncology\, researching and publishing in the field\, a wife\, mother\, and proud grandmother of two wonderful boys. She enjoys running\, biking\, and creating artwork from found objects.

SUMMARY:Medicine Grand Rounds: Dr. Natalie Grover presents "An Internist's Guide to Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell"
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Natalie Grover is an assistant professor in the division of hematology and clinical director of the cellular therapy program at the UNC School of Medicine. She received her MD from Case Western Reserve University. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Virginia and her hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her primary clinical and research interest is in novel therapies for the treatment of lymphoma\, particularly chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy. She leads several CAR-T cell clinical trials in lymphoma and collaborates with translational researchers to bring these novel therapies to the clinic. She is interested in innovative approaches to improve the efficacy and safety of CAR-T cell therapy as well as investigations of why some patients progress after treatment. She is also involved in multi-center clinical trials and research collaborations with the goal of improving treatment options and quality of life for patients with lymphoma.
