DESCRIPTION:Trans Talk Tuesday\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nZoom – Contact Facilitator for Link\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn LGBTIQ spaces do you feel like the T is left out?\nWould you like to connect with folks around topics of gender identity and gender expression?\nAre you questioning your gender identity and hoping to talk to other questioning folks?\nWould you like to share your knowledge and expertise in regards to navigating systems that don’t often recognize diversity within gender?\n\nJoin the LGBTQ Center’s peer support/discussion group for campus and community members that identify as transgender\, genderqueer\, or gender-questioning. This space is meant to provide community and connection amongst folks on the basis of gender identity. All students\, staff\, faculty\, community members with these identities are welcome. \nNote to Allies\nWe have been asked if allies are welcome. As this space is not meant to be an educational space where people have to explain their identities\, we ask that people who do not identify as part of the transgender community (i.e.\, cisgender allies) not attend. Instead\, please consider taking advantage of our educational programs and/or resources for supportive families or friends. \nAccommodations for Social Distancing\nTrans Talk Tuesday will be moving online for now. DESCRIPTION:About Book Club\nThe LGBTQ Center Book Club is a twice-monthly meeting of lit nerds and casual readers who love to discuss books\, fanfic\, and other readings with LGBTQIA+ themes. . We meet on a pattern of discussing things we love/late to read on the 1st Friday and meeting to discuss the group’s chosen works on the 3rd Friday. SUMMARY:Medicine Grand Rounds- Dr. Ali Ellebedy Presents: B Cell Response to mRNA Vaccination in Humans: Learning from ‘Experiments of Nature’
DESCRIPTION:Ali Ellebedy is a viral immunologist. He was born in Egypt and graduated with a B.S. in pharmaceutical sciences from Cairo University in 2004. It was during his time at pharmacy school that he was first exposed to and became fascinated with immunology. \nIn 2006\, he moved to the US where he studied influenza virus vaccines at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis\, TN for his Ph.D. He then moved to Emory University in Atlanta\, GA\, where he was a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Rafi Ahmed studying human B cell responses to viruses. \nIn 2017\, Ali joined the Department of Pathology and Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis as an Assistant Professor. His team studies the factors determining the ultimate fate of B cells once they are engaged via virus infection or vaccination. He is a tenured associate professor and co-director of the Center for Vaccines and Immunity to Microbial Pathogens at Washington University School of Medicine.

SUMMARY:Medicine Grand Rounds- Dr. David Systrom presents: "Advanced Exercise Testing for Evaluation of ME/CFS and Long Covid"
DESCRIPTION:Dr. David M. Systrom is a physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is also an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. \nHe received his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School (now known as Geisel School of Medicine). He then completed a residency in internal medicine at Emory University Hospital\, followed by a fellowship in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary disease. \nAn active investigator and director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Cardiopulmonary laboratory\, Dr. Systrom regularly publishes research examining pulmonary hypertension\, pulmonary vascular disease\, right heart failure\, and thromboembolic disease. He has authored over 130 peer-reviewed publications\, has received funding from the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association\, and has been named to the annual list of the Best Doctors in America. Dr. Systrom is a member of the American Thoracic Society\, the American Heart Association\, and the American Physiological Society.

SUMMARY:Medicine Grand Rounds- Dr. Robert Yeh presents: "The Uneasy Relationship Between Health Policy and Cardiovascular Care"
DESCRIPTION:Robert W. Yeh\, MD MSc is the Founding Director of the Richard and Susan Smith Center for Outcomes Research at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He holds the Katz-Silver Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Outcomes Research and is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.  Dr. Yeh is also the Associate Chief of Interventional Cardiology at BIDMC. \nDr. Yeh’s research focuses on understanding the value of novel cardiovascular devices and therapies\, studying the effects of health policy interventions on cardiovascular practice\, and using novel sources of data to better predict patient and procedural risk. His work is funded by the National Heart\, Lung\, and Blood Institute and the US Food and Drug Administration. He is a standing voting member of the FDA’s Circulatory Devices Advisory Panel. \n  \n
