DESCRIPTION:Dr. Barbara LeVarge is a clinical associate professor within the division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at UNC. Dr. LeVarge serves as the Associate Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program as well as the Medical Director of Pulmonary Diagnostics (Pulmonary Function Lab). She is a pulmonary vascular disease specialist with clinical focus on the treatment of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension\, chronic pulmonary embolism\, and sickle cell related lung disease. She has additional clinical and research interests in the use of exercise testing and invasive hemodynamics in a variety of cardiopulmonary diseases.

DESCRIPTION:Anya Plutynski is a historian and philosopher of biology and medicine. Her most recent book is Explaining Cancer: Finding Order in Disorder (2018\, OUP). She has also written on the history and philosophy of evolutionary biology and genetics\, the role of modeling in science\, and scientific explanation.\n\nDr. Plutynski has just received the ACLS (American Council of Learned Societies) Fellowship for a book project on the nature of mental health\, and the history and philosophy of scientific research on clinical expertise in psychotherapy.

DESCRIPTION:Cary Levine is Professor of Contemporary Art History. He received his Ph.D. from the Graduate Center\, City University of New York\, and was a recipient of a year-long J. Paul Getty Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. His first book\, Pay for Your Pleasures: Mike Kelley\, Paul McCarthy\, Raymond Pettibon (University of Chicago Press\, 2013) examines the work of these artists in terms of post-60s politics\, popular culture\, mass media\, and strategies of the grotesque. His second book\, The Future is Present: Art\, Technology\, and the Work of Mobile Image (with Philip Glahn)\, focuses on an important telecommunications art collective and the intersections of art\, politics\, and technology. This book received the 2025 Frank Jewitt Mather Award\, one of the most prestigious distinctions in the field. He was also the 2020 recipient of the Art Journal Award and a 2014 recipient of the Hettleman Prize for Scholarly Achievement at UNC. He has lectured nationally and internationally\, has written for various magazines and museum catalogues\, and previously worked at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
