SUMMARY:Medicine Grand Rounds- Dr. Marshall Fleurant presents: "ACE's and the Relationship to the African American Population"
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Marshall Fleurant is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in the Division of General Medicine and Geriatrics\, Grady Division. He serves as a medical director for the primary care clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. As a Clinician Educator\, he oversees medical residents and students in the inpatient wards. He is a clinical preceptor for medical students and residents at the Grady Hospital Primary Care Clinic. Dr. Fleurant’s main interests include trauma-informed care\, its application in improving health access\, health disparities and improving primary care for underserved populations\, preserving the safety net for the underserved\, and strengthening the field of primary care. His publications include a contributed chapter on the book “Tectonic Shifts: Haiti Since the Earthquake” and the text Trauma-Informed Healthcare Approaches A Guide for Primary Care.” \nDr. Fleurant received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his residency training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He completed a general medicine fellowship at Harvard University School of Medicine and completed a Master’s in Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health with a focus on Clinical Effectiveness. He has practiced as a Clinician Educator at Boston University School of Medicine and worked as a private practitioner at Kaiser Permanente\, The Southeastern Permanente Medical Group. Dr. Fleurant hopes to use his experience and interest in underserved populations to affect policy and contribute to improving the quality of care given through primary care while simultaneously improving the practice life of physicians who practice primary care. \n

DESCRIPTION:About Book Club\nThe LGBTQ Center Book Club is a twice-monthly meeting of lit nerds and casual readers who love to discuss books\, fanfic\, and other readings with LGBTQIA+ themes. . We meet on a pattern of discussing things we love/late to read on the 1st Friday and meeting to discuss the group’s chosen works on the 3rd Friday.
