DESCRIPTION:Dr. Patricia (Patty) Chang is Professor of Medicine and Director of the Heart Failure Program\, Medical Director of the Heart Transplant Program\, and Program Director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Fellowship\, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She completed her cardiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University\, where she also earned a Masters in Health Sciences in Clinical Epidemiology.  She holds an adjunct faculty appointment at the UNC School of Public Health and serves as a long-time co-investigator on the NIH-funded Atherosclerosis Risks in Communities (ARIC) Study.  She is an author on over 100 original research publications and has been a writing member on various consensus statements and reviews related to cardiac transplantation and heart failure.  Her research has focused on heart failure and cardiovascular epidemiology\, as she has been involved with multiple epidemiologic studies and patient-oriented studies including multicenter randomized clinical trials.
