DESCRIPTION:Dr. Simpson is Professor of Medicine and Clinical Professor of Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina\, Chapel Hill. He received his MD from Georgetown University and completed further training in internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Illinois Hospital\, Chicago. He received a PhD in Epidemiology from UNC. He formerly served as Medical Director and Principal Clinical Coordinator at the Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence. His research interests include the epidemiology and prevention of sudden unexpected death in adults\, as well as the management of hypercholesterolemia\, hypertension\, and cardiovascular disease.
