Primary + Specialist Care

Five straight years of UNC Health Care awards for patient ratings and clinical excellence

Geriatricians are board certified in internal or family medicine, bringing a foundation of primary care expertise to their specialist’s knowledge of aging health issues. A Geriatrician spends additional time training (from 1 to 3 years) as a Geriatric Medicine Fellow to pass exams for board certification in Geriatrics.

Although UNC Geriatrics’ medical team begins with our core physicians, it also includes a Geriatrics pharmacist and social worker, as well as a neurologist and psychiatrist.

Our physicians are members of the UNC School of Medicine Faculty. They train medical students and Geriatric Medicine Fellows in Chapel Hill and consult with providers throughout the state. Their networks of multidisciplinary experts continuously broaden their knowledge of new research, effective treatments, and standards of care that are relevant to an aging population.
