Project: Deprescribing Bisphosphonates in Older Nursing Home Residents with Dementia

Grant Number: U.S. Deprescribing Network Pilot (NIA 1R24AG064025)

The goal of this study was to develop operational definitions for examining deprescribing of bisphosphonates using Medicare Part D prescription drug event data. In subsequent analyses, the study also examined the incidence and predictors of deprescribing bisphosphonates in a sample of Medicare nursing home residents with dementia. This work served as the foundation for subsequent research to examine clinical outcomes and cost-effectiveness of bisphosphonate deprescribing versus continued use in older nursing home residents with dementia.
