About

Dr. John Baron is Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina, and Professor emeritus of Medicine and Epidemiology at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. An internist by clinical training, he also has master’s degrees in Epidemiology and in Mathematical Statistics. He now works as a clinical epidemiologist and trialist, currently focusing on cancer epidemiology and prevention, and the epidemiology of gastrointestinal disorders. He is the leader of the Polyp Prevention Study Group, a multi-centered research consortium that has conducted several important colorectal chemoprevention trials. He is also active as a clinical epidemiologist in the Early Detection Research Network and the Colon Family Registry. He has extensive teaching experience, having taught clinical epidemiology courses in the U.S. and Europe.
