The name describes what happens: fat droplets accumulate in the liver to cause inflammation (irritation). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Individuals who are overweight or who have diabetes are at increased risk for fatty liver disease. It is usually a mild disease, however, some patients can develop cirrhosis. Lifestyle changes are important in managing this disease.
