With a focus on shared decision-making, I aim to offer patients all of the available conventional and experimental treatment options, and then help them choose one that provides the best quality of life without exposing them to unnecessary risks. In my laboratory, we study how normal intestinal bacteria interact with the gut immune system to cause inflammation in mouse models of inflammatory bowel diseases. My group has published several research papers detailing how bacterial responses to intestinal inflammation affect the course of disease.
